Attending the talk is a very stressful and time consuming. Divorce
During the In Camp Training, I was surprised when Wong told me that he was divorced. Wong was married with a Thailand Chinese girl. He knew this girl when he was in Thailand training. The girl family was doing the noodle business and everyday he went there to eat the noodle. After one year, Wong applied for approval to get marriage with the girl. They were living happily for 7 years. The starting fire point started after Wong left the airforce and join the private company which required him often went to overseas to work. His wife was lonely at home and hence and bad company. Eventually one day, his wife went back to Thailand and refused to return home after several call from home. So they signed the divorced agreement and their daughter belong to his wife.
His wife knew a Thai guy and they stayed together. After few years, the guy need money and his wife use her daughter to exchange the money she need. So now the daughter is with Wong and Wong also know a lady. Hopefully they can live happily.
So the show on the TV is real. Overseas working indeed can cause a disaster to marriage. Lonely can make a human do some weird thing that beyond human control.

IPPT 18 Apr
Yesterday very early went to bed at 830pm because today having IPPT. This morning wake up at 330am, went to toilet and continue with my sleep till 530am. Wake up feel head very giddy, spinning, with this condition i got a feeling today will fail.
Taking my breakfast and out of the home at 615am. I need to report to TAB which is near Jalan Bahar at 720am. Reached BoonLay station and exit in the wrong direction causing a delay but fortunately able to catch the 172 bus in time. In the bus i saw one NSF which is so fat that he one person is being occupied almost the bus seat. The person that sat beside him unable to tolerate the squeeze, finally decided to stand. When i saw this i begin to woder why the fatty soldier did not care about his diet. Don't he know that his BMI is very high and alot of illness is associate with the fat in his body.
When i reached TAB at 720am, i need to undergo a very tight security check. They check on my SAR 100 only because i am reporting only in PT attire which is T-shirt and short that show 90% of my sexy leg with wallet and key chain in the pocket. I left my hand phone at home because the camera phone is not allow in the camp if not it has to be deposited in the guardroom which is 200m away from the main gate.
After the gate, went to the gym to mark attendance and took the number tag. Over there already saw a long queue of all the ICT and no-ICT NSmen. Met alot of my ex air force friend and we started to chat. The IPPT started at 8am. The PTI, conducting officer, supervising officer and medic all need to brief on the rule, regulation and safety thing. After that the PTI detailed our team to go for the board jump first.
I able to score well in all station except for chin up only get D. The last station is 2.4Km run. The route in TAB changed again but it is better than the last year 2.4km route. This year i score 12.08 as compare to last year 13.15. Overall i have passed IPPT and can relax till next year.

Generation Gap
During the BBQ, Winnie mentioned that she and CW already stay together (have not marry) and her parents know that they are together without any objection was a shock on me. CW sometime will stay in Winnie house and parents never nagged at them and both of them are under 21. Is this a new generation thinking and behaviour ? They don't mind in staying together without getting marry.
In my generation, the parents will always advise us not to get body contact with girls and the girls need to know how to protect themselves. But now seem that pre-marriage sex is acceptable within the teenagers. I never make any comments on this but give my best wish to her and hopefully she not regret on the decision she made.

BBQ
Yesterday went to downtown east to attend a BBQ organised by 0407 cohorts that graduated in Apr 06. I was their CA and had attended 2 times BBQ, one in last year after their last exam and one is yesterday. Winnie is the organiser and she told me that now then she know that ITE certificate is useful in applying the job. Recently she has applied an admin job in shipping company, but there are 3 to 4 other applicants. She thought that she has no more chances but in the end she is the only one that get employed and the reason is she has the ITE certificate. She indirectly thank me that given her the chances to complete the course. It is because during her study, she intended to quit the course, i as the CA has to counsel her, need to know the reason, do logic analysis and explain to her that the ITE certificate is useful in her future career. At that time she did not believe but now she do. Quite happy she can find such a good job and the company welfare is good. The company provide free breakfast, lunch and tea break plus in the past history the company had given minimum 3 months bonuses and highest is 8 months.

Second Chance
Everyone will make a mistake and need others to give them a second chance to amend it. Today receive a sms indicate that J is in 24 months probation. Before he got this sentence by court, he already been retained in the remand prison for 3 weeks. It will be a nightmare to him being staying in the cell for so long. His parents and lawyer already have prepared for the worst but in the end J is given a second chance to amend his mischief behaviour and serious offences that he had make.
He had committed a few very serious offences during the last December vacation, steal motorcycle stickers, assault foreign workers and break into secondary school to steal stationary and uniform. He has confessed all the offences in front of me after being retained by the police for a week and released after bill out waiting for the court sentence. He indicated that he did not physically involve but just stand aside to watch his ex-secondary friend doing. He wanted me to help him to write a good report on his behaviour in school.
Last week a probation officer called me and asked for my verbal report on J behaviour. I just stated all the facts and in fact he is quite a responsible, good leadership and receive the merit award for his good academic result. He also told his story to his classmates and advise them not to do any silly things. I think with all my positive and strong statement partially help him to get a lighter sentence. Hopefully he could turn over a new leaf.

Cash Converters
This afternoon brought 8 old computer games with package, 3 black waist pouch and few soft toys to Jurong East Cash Converters there to exchange for some cash. Guess how much they worth ? 1 PC game with CD only worth $1, the black waist bag only $0.50 and the soft toys is worthless. Overall the shop gave me $10 just enough for me to cut my hair.
I always remind my family members not to buy things due to temptation, cheap or group pressure (see alot of people buying they also wanted to buy and feel that if they do not buy will lose out). All the things that they buy may not be useful or use in the home. It may just put there to collect dust. In the end, most of them are throw away. Luckily there is a cash converters shop around to re-cycle the unused things. The PC games, my brother-in-law bought alot of flight simulation, city siam 2000, theme park simulation, all of them are new and the packages not open, but he does not play due to too time consuming and gave it to me. I also not interested in the game and put aside for 2 years to collect dust. The waist pouch and soft toys are bought by mum and sisters during the Sales due to cheap, cheap and cheap but in the end also not used for 1 year. Worst now the soft toy cannot recycle, need to thing of a way to dispose them.

Today become Actor
Today i become actor. I act as a blind man walking down the staircase and knocked by a group of students. Only one student is willing to help the blind man walk down the stairs. The shooting started at 11am ended at 3pm. Quite alot of shooting retake. Lunch skipped and in the end only having tea break at 330pm. Around 5pm, started to headache, this is the symptom of irregular meal time. I cannot skip meal if not i will headache and feel uneasy.

Today 27th ?
This morning wake up as usual, take breakfast, read newspaper and at around 815am go out home and take public transport to HQ to attend courses that started at 9am. When reached HQ, i started to look for the venue. In HQ there are only 2 rooms occupied with PC which located at 2nd and 3rd floor. I have looked for the whole building but did not see any instructor and trainees around. By then it is 855am. I start to panic. I quickly rush to the resource center and login into my email to look at the email that contain course information. Finally i manage to locate the email and read carefully. It stated that the course commence on 27 to 28 Mar Tue to Wed, 9am to 5pm. Finally i realise it was my mistake to think that today is 27 Mar. How careless am i. Then went to bus stop to wait for the bus. Today really unlucky, i waited for 40 mins then the bus arrived.

Traffic Accident Again
Whenever i read newspaper on bike accident, i was so worried for all my friends that ride bike to work or to study and hopefully their names is not there. Today another news on bike accident near Thomson and the rider died. I remember when i was a aircraft technician, one of my colleague had met an accident with a lorry/ truck when he ride bike to work. He was immediately send to hospital. Due to he was seriously injure and need lots of blood transfusion that almost use up all the hospital blood bank. All of his friend including i which is underweight went to the hospital to donate blood to save his life. Luckily our effort are not wasted, his life was saved but he become handicap. His leg and arm all arm with metal. He cannot do exercise anymore. As for me, after the blood donation, my whole body not pain but "sour". Have seen doctor but unable to know the causes. Finally went to see Chinese doctor and know that i am not suitable to donate blood instead others should donate blood to me. The body "sourness" lasted about a month then my body recover.

How to not feel lonely when alone ?
Alot of friends and relatives have asked me when don't find a partner ? But they should know that alot of things are depend on fate.
Being single, i can simply play computer game, read books, msn, watch TV on my own without afraiding disturb others. I dont care what is happening outside of the house.
Being single, i am carefree, everywhere can be my home and can also not my home. Home to a single is just a place for resting. When not feeling good, i can just pack and go to look for another place without the need to say goodbye or give reasons to explain to anyone.
Being single i can have the right to love anyone and don't love anyone. Any different in love or not love ? Sometime you will feel that you get hurt easily when falling in love. To a lazy people love need alot of energy and time to maintain. Why not when feel boring just watch TV, reading books or window shopping which is more relaxing.

Poly Fees
Today i take a look at our GTA the polytechnic enrolment notices and know that the semester fees is about $1200 which is after deduction of the government tuition grant. Then they are also required to buy a laptop which costs between $1400 to $1950. That is quite expensive for the lower income group. They may not have the abilities to forge out such a big sum of money. I advised them to get some help from their MP if they need immediate help or apply the bursary from the poly and taking study loan from the bank if they are able to pay for the first semester fees.
By taking this example, i advised my own class students to start saving the money for their further education and not anyhow spending money in the unnecessary things eg. magazine, latest handphone, rings etc. Not all parents can afford to send in their child to study in tertiary education as it will added the burden to their existing tight budget.
The question is will these students listen to my advise ? As they are still quite young, they do not know the hardship of earning the money. I wondering is there any generation gap between me and them as in my generation, we save the money for the future. In case there is any unforeseen circumstances, i still got money to solve the unexpected hiccup. In the newer generation, they will most likely spend all the money that they have in their pocket. They do not prepare for the future. Anything happen they just get help from their parents.

Crying
Today intended to use one of the trainee recorded voice in doing the labsheet 8.The reasons why i chosen the female recorded voice are the recorde voice is short, clear and funny. This female student refuses but i insisted. In the end she cried and i had no choice but to choose others which are longer one. To me, the institution is a training ground to train trainee not only the academic or technical skill but also some social skill. In the real world if the boss wanted the thing to be done in his ways, the employees have to obey. There is no reason to reject or even thinking that crying can solve the problem.

Activation of credit card
I have activate the credit card as it waive the 5 years Annual Fee. At the same time i called the customer service officer to cancel my DBS Visa and DBS american express black card as the annual fees charge is in these few months. i do not like to hold too many cards as it make my wallet very big and difficult to put inside my pocket.

Top 20% SMU pay
Just watched channel U news reporting that the Top 20% of SMU graduate average starting pay is $4630. That is a very high pay. Most of my NTU friends graduate in year 2000 and work till now still cannot such high pay.

Today suppose wanted to go IT show in Suntec but from the newspaper knew that it was very crowded and drop the idea.
Steven asked me to go geyland to eat stink toufu but last time i had taken before causes diarrhoea so i rejected it. In the evening went to Sakae Sushi located at Park Mall to take my dinner. There is an ideal place to eat causes not much customer and no need to wait and queue. Ordered 1 Gindara Kaminabe, 1 green tea and 2 colour plate costs me $22.75. Quite expensive.
After dinner i went to Cathay to watch the movie 300. Quite a nice show and i am a person that love to watch the war movie. Maybe i like to dream to be an hero.

Vibration cause by Earthquake
Today at around 11+, in C111, i feel there is some vibration on my chair for less than 5 seconds. It was like the handphone vibrate in the silent mode. Late someone send the email to me that there was an earthquake in Indonesia affect Singapore. This is my first time encounter with the earthquake.

Porridge and Dessert
Today went out with Anthony to Chinatown. He wanted to pray TaiXuai to help him in his luck. We went to the BaoChi Temple at 6pm but the priest stop work at 5pm. So he will need to go back the temple tomorrow.
Then we having our dinner at Chang Cheng to eat the famous porridge there. After the dinner we have the dessert at the famous outlet opposite the Mcdonald. Today i am really lucky to be able to eat the 2 famous dishes in the chinatown which in normal day i do not have a chance due to long queue.

Better and Transparent Fixed Deposit Rate
Most of the local bank that display their time deposit rate in the website are not transparent and the rate they offered are not attractive. They will only lat you know their "promotion" rate which is a better rate over the counter. Finally found a bank that put their "real" time deposit rate on the website. Chest X-Ray report
Last Friday went to polyclinic to get the chest X-Ray Report. There is nothing wrong with my lung but my cough still persist. The doctor asked me to wait for 3 to 4 weeks time to see is the condition improve if not she will refer me to see ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Specialist. Now is waiting time and hopefully i no need to see the specialist.

With Trouble
Today a girl told me she wanted to transfer to other class and i asked for reason. She said that there was a misunderstood between her and group of girls. She felt stress and wanted to get out of this class. I told her this is not a solution to her problem. Going to anothere class will not solve her problem and she might faced the same trouble and different type of stress. She need to know new friends and get into the gang. I also have advised from the senior that this girl already having some psychological or emotional unstable. She is too sensitive to certain topics and may also be an attention seeker. As i am a male and not professional counsellor, i refer her to the campus professional counsellor and hopefully she may find an answer from the professional.

First Batches Graduate
Yesterday chatted with Angeline and come to know that this coming Friday is her last day in IA. After that she will be looking for a full time job. The rest of them that not in IA will be having their final year exam after Chinese New Year. Time fly fast, the first batch of 'N' level MMT graduate will be graduate with a diploma. They are also my first batch students to teach when i join the school. Good Luck to them and hope they manage to find a good job.

Union Food
Last week had used the credit card points to redeem abalone for the Chinese New Year Union food and the bird nest for parents for their cough. Each abalone required 600 points and $38 cash. The bird nest required 600 points and $25. Dont know whether it is too expensive to buy it from credit card company.

Thai Temple
Yesterday Anthony called me to go to Bukit Merah Thai Temple to pray. Recently his luck is really bad and since then he started to believe in praying to bring in good luck, protection and peace. I have never been there so i agreed and met him at 5pm in the Temple.
In the temple, we start offering incense sticks to all the buddha there. After offering, someone that is very fit say hello to me. I look at him and started to recall that he is my ex-airforce friend and now he is a diving instructor. He told me he every week will come to this Thai temple to pray, sitting there and enjoy the wind blow. Every year he will be going back to Thailand, Korat village to visit a temple monk and meet some of his friends in Thai. He say the mentally of the people in Korat has changed but the buildings and roads there not much changes. He will be going back to Thailand again in this coming March. After chatting a while he need to attend some personal thing and went off. Then to my surprise and i saw him driving a new grey colur sport car. I am happy for him to do very well in his diving school business.

Change the IE Title Bar Text
Friday afternoon, Roy come and look for me. He is belong to mechanial section, he asked is there any method able to restore the computer harddisk into its original stage. I suggest to him to ghost the whole harddisk and the ghost image able to restore the computer. This help to save the times needed to reformatting the whole harddisk, reinstall OS and all software.
When we reach the laboratory, there is additional problem in the computer. Someone has altered the IE Title Bar Text with four letter word "suck" and no one able to solve it. I search in the internet and found a solution - >[Start] [Run] [Regedit] and search the word "suck". The word is hide in the Internet Explorer>main>window title. I delete the word and run IE again, the word disappear from the title bar.
i also found vbscript able to change the title bar. The program code as follow :

Cough still not recover
Tonight will be taking the last antibiotic pill, but the cough still not recover. Hate the cough..... dont know why every year i need to suffer the long long cough. Now the chest pain is in the middle of the ribs, cannot cough out loud and hard. It is pianful. Hai really a torture and suffering cough.

Buddhist Song
Yesterday went out with Anthony in PS and he introduced a friend Tony to me. Tony also a graduate from BMVI. Then we started to chat. During the chat then i know Anthony has quited his STE job as it did not provide much training plus need to have more output. Currently he is looking for a job. I told him if he don't mind about the pay, he should not have any problem in looking for a job in these few weeks as the current job market is good and more people are resigned after getting the bonus.
Anthony wanted to buy a DECT phone. After looking at the BEST Denki shop we decided to go to Liang Court Audio shop to look for more variety. Along the way walking there, i met Thomas, Ex PSA colleague with his girl friend. He is still working in IBM. Without chatting much with him, we walk to Audio house. In Audio house, there is much lesser DECT model available to choose.
Then we went to ChinaTown to have our dinner and walk to see the street shops to feel the New Year mood. While walking, we were all being attracted by a very light and peacefully Buddhist song, sang by 黄思婷 in her album 自由. I use to think that Buddhist song is only the music or chanting. But after listening to her song have changed my thinking.

Feel better
After taking the medicine, i feel much more better today. The chest pain has reduced significantly. Think partially i have enough of rest plus the medicines are effective.
Wednesday night saw my Singapore Project Lecture Mr Steven on the TV show to explain and demonstrate how the CPU can cook an egg and why the cooking oil will not damage the motherboard but can help to lower down the heat of the motherboard. It has been more than 10 years since i graduated from there and he still look the same. His voice still so gentle and he will never get angrily easily.

Midicine given by Private Clinic
This morning wake up at 6am and intended to go to work. After taking breakfast, the cough start to be non-stop. Finally decided to see doctor and sms inform colleagues and section head.
Have copied down the medicine given by the polyclinic so that the private clinic doctor Dr Ng know what are the medicines i have been take for the past 1 month.
8 Jan - EXPECTORANT DIPHENHYDRAMINE - to express the cough (cost < $15)
16 Jan - PROMETHAZINE CODEINE CO LINCTUS for suppressive cough and ERYTHROMYCIN SUCCINATE for antibiotic. (cost <$15)

CHLORPHENIRAMINE 4MG - for flu, running nose
AMOXICLAV 625MG(AUGMENTIN) - antibiotics

Have been seeing Dr Ng since my army days. A very good doctor that will explain the medicine that she prescript to me. Will also advise on type of food to avoid. Will auto measure the blood pressure and she know my family as we had once whole family visit her clinic. Her clinic only open for the morning session. Had not been visit the clinic sine April 2005. That time also the prolong cough and the doctor had cured it.
The only thing that make us visit polyclinic than to see private clinic doctor is the polyclinic is only located near my flat. Just 30 seconds walking distance but Dr Ng clinic is 5 mins walk. Polyclinic is cheaper than private clinic.
After seeing the doctor i also went to HPB that to have a x-ray examination so as to confirm that my lung is ok but the result will only be out in 2 weeks time.

Unacceptable Attitude
Have received all the section summary feedback from the committee members except for one K. This member since last year November had not submit the meeting minute and did not carry out the duty assigned to him. In December i heard that he had tender his resignation letter. This has explained why his behaviour was so unacceptable. Today is the last orientation events and after that i'll need to submit a report but till now still pending this section feedback. Have send email to this guy and his section head but still no reply. This show that this section head does not have the necessary supervisory skill to organise and control her staff well. Have personally talk to K section head and confirm she know it. I will let this section head to settle her section internal issues before i raise my problem up to higher management.

Manpower issue
My cough has causes my left chest pain. Wanted to see doctor but i need to prepare the Wednesday events "Self Esteem Talk". All i need is to take the cough syrup to suppress the cough temporary.
Today section head has come to our workplace to discuss the manpower issue. Jean is leaving in this coming Friday and he need to find someone to replace her urgently. By looking at the time table, there is no staff available except for Mr D. which have no teaching hour except for the EIP tasks. Moreover Joey is in EIP. She will only go for maternity leave on 1 March. So he decided to put Mr D to take over Jean task temporary until the new staff is employed. Today whole day i did not see Mr D. in the office. Wonder where is he.........

Side effect of Cod Liver Oil
After taking 3 days of the cod liver oil capsule, 2 capsules 3 times a day, i discovered that there is a side effect in my body. The most obvious one is i need to go toilet 3 - 5times a day as compared to normal 1 time per day. It is not diarrhoea but greasy stool. To confirm that the side effect is caused by the cod liver oil capsule, i stopped taking the capsules on Sat and Sunday my body system go to normal. The cough still persist and the chest pain has moved from right to left chest.

Ezylink Activation code
Afternoon i gave Mr D a piece of my mind. He always give others a look of stressful face. I told him if he does not want to do the task, L and I are willing to take over and he must take over our task/jobs. He always thought that that task is a very stressful job and no one want to take but he is wrong. Alot of us know that that job is the most relax among others. He already given alot of privilege, almost all the normal job no need to touch just to concentrate on that task. Asking other department will know that it is truth. Moreover i think nowsaday he become more and more daring and quite often he will "MIA".
Today finally receive an email from ezylink the auto top-up activation code after waiting for 4 weeks plus 2 phone complaint and 1 email complaint. Really very disappointed with the bank services. After work went to transit link office to unblock my ezylink and pay $13 for the store value and deposit. Then went to guardian to buy the cod liver oil. Quite cheap only $5.50, before went to cashier, a middle age sales woman approach me and recommend the shark oil supplement. She say it is much more better than the cod oil and can prevent cancer. Please lor, i study biology, i know that to have a good healthy body, we just need a balance diet and exercise. No need to take extra supplement, moreover that shark oil supplement cost $115. I am not that rich. These few days i will take the cod oil and hopefully it will cure my cough.

Cough till chest Pain
Yesterday afternoon i cough till chest pain. I had to miss Jean Farewell Lunch cause do not want to spread the virus to the whole section. Afternoon went to see doctor, doctor examine that my lung was clear. I asked the doctor to give me cough lotion that suppress the cough not the earlier one that make me cough more. I also ask for strong antibiotic. The doctor caution that the cough lotion contain codeine and consume it when necessary. Went home take the medicine and after half an hour feel drowsiness, fall asleep very quickly. During dinner time dad wake me up if not i will continue sleep. The medicine really strong and my cough is lee or being suppress.
This morning the chest is less pianful, thanks to the medicine. Afternoon receive call from WZ asking me to go for bowling at Kim Seng Plaza at 2pm. At 130pm it was heavy rain hence SMS him indicate will be late. At 230pm reach the place and WZ and his Vietnam wife have just started to play. So i went to loan the shoe costs me $1.20 and notice that one game cost $3.90. Anthony and I waited not long to join in for WZ an his wife to finish their game. We only play one game as i have few years did not play bowling, i only score 50 points haha just pass and 3 of them score 88 points. After the game we went to Novena Square and the velocity, Not all shops are operate in Velocity. Saw one of my ex student now study in Poly doing sales in Balenco. Think she purposely do not want to see me. Never mind lor no big deal. Then Anthony suggest to go to AMK hub to see the mega NTUC there and also take dinner there. Go to AMK quite disappointed because heavy rain and the underpass and only 25% of the shops start operation. Anthony buy a Sony Ericsson M600 handphone for $500+ without contract. He has long wanted to buy that handphone.
Then we take dinner at coffeeshop and call HM who stay in AMK to meet us. After dinner we went to Jubilee and in MOS burger meet another student but she also pretend did not see me. I wonder am i really a monster to them ?

13th Month Pay
Have read a few interesting articles and would let to share.
When the British were in Singapore, they were being paid weekly & they argued that Singaporeans were actually being cheated into believing that the 13th month pay is a bonus.
Singaporeans are being paid monthly which is approximately equivalent to 4 weeks pay cause there are 4 weeks in a month. As the British were paid weekly, it worked out to the same.
You see, there are 7 days in a week. 4 weeks in a month. 12 months in a year. Then 12 months should work out to 48 weeks only. But in real life one year is 52 weeks. Hence the 13th month pay (bonus).
So, the British argued that there is in fact no bonus at all???

Sixth Sense
Today 2 more staffs on Medical leave. The virus spread very fast. Me, the cough still disturbing me. Hai .....
I believed that every human has six sense. Today out of sudden i wanted to check my mum handphone starhub prepaid card expiry date. Then i suddenly realise that the expiry date is tomorrow. By the time i knew it is about 11pm. I quickly walk downstair to the ATM machine to top up the card. Later i start to figure out why only today i wanted to check my mum handphone. The answer could be during the last time when i top-up my mum card, the expiry date is already inside one my brain cell. So when the expiry date is nearer it will trigger a signal to alert me that need to check my mum handphone. I am really forgotten about the expiry date.

Cough and cough again
Today really very tire. Need to talk for 8 hours. It has caused my cough more worst.
Think my cough virus has spread to the department. Yesterday one staff got cough went to see doctor in the morning. Today afternoon still not well and see doctor again. The new staff also got the fever and cough. He went home early to see the doctor. Hopefully the cough virus will not spread to all the staffs.

New Staff
Today got one new colleague report work. His name is Mark Lee, not the TV joker Mark Lee. His face is much more better than the TV one. His working cubicle is just beside me. Greeted him in the afternoon 3pm because the whole morning i am having classes. Did not chat with him much as i am still not well....... cough still non stop...... think need to stop consume that cough lotion..... now cough till my lower part of my body pain.

Body without soul
Suddenly feel aimless. Now feeling i only have body but no soul inside. There is no target, no aim now. Unlike when i was young, i set target when i was in Secondary School ->Poly - > Airforce -> University -> Work -> MSc. After MSc, i do not know what target to set. Am i feel depressed..... Not to worry, i will not commit suicide. If i wanted to, it will be during my secondary school time when i failed my exam. Maybe it is the middle age phobia whereby most of the middle age Singaporean are facing. No job security, afraid of losing job, afraid of changing job, afraid of high living standard, afraid of alot of other things. Really need to think of something if not life is really aimless and not meaningful. Last time i have less time but do lots of things. Now having more time but do less things.
Maybe its time to find a companion. Falling sick is really a terrible thing and worst if there is no one taking care of you. On the other hand, afew of my colleagues having problem in their marriage whereby they rather stay in office late than going home early. Worst is even during holiday they will go back office rather than stay at home. They will envy me as i am still single. i am really puzzle in the first place if both of them are not fall in love with each other, they should not get married. They should try to communicate more rather than hide away from the problem.

Cough non stop
Have been coughing since Monday. It getting worst and worst after the orientation activities because i am the MC needed to talk almost whole day. Tuesday afternoon that time i have lost my voice and cough non stop. After resting for an hour , i feel better. Yesterday while doing briefing to my project group, lost my voice and cough again. This morning wanted to see doctor but lesson start at 8am. Afraid unable to find someone relief, i went to work. After 2 hours i end the lesson and immediately told my supervisor i go to see doctor.
Now i am in 2 days MC. But the doctor that gave me the cough lotion make me cough worst. Even though after take the medicine, i sleep but will be waken up by the cough. Think the cough lotion is expressive type to let me cough out all the phelgm.

Activities part 2
Finally the Tuesday orientation activities are over. The activities that were planned are video show - Care, counselling talk, Video show - Dare to Dream, Motivational talk by Alvin, CCA talk by PE and concert. After the whole events, i already exhausted and sore throat. Luckily today no activities, i can take a break but my throat really dry and sore.
Thursday there will be CCA road show and lastly Friday is the game and telematch. After Friday still left one last activities , the self esteem talk by HQ counsellor. Then i need to write report, submit and plan for the next April 07 Orientation program. Very tiring.

First Day Activities
First day of the orientation activities i was quite nervous. I went to school early, book out the auditorium key, setup the laptop and printout my speech. I am the MC of the whole events. Hahaha first time, english not so good also must do, no choice. Also check with my member sthat they have printed out all the namelist and pasted on the notice board. Maybe i am inexperience, i tear out the graphic cardboard and wanted to be a display card for the new students to stand in correct rows. I was stopped and told that there are other cards available and he pasted back that cardboard. The enrolment was quite bad for MMT as only 27 names appear in each class.
At 855 i start to use the microphone to ask the student to check their names against the class and queue up accordingly. WOW first time to command 500 ++ students and staffs. like a general calling a soldier. I give a brief introduction and each department have different time slot to go into the auditorium. In auditorium, i introduce myself and show them the schedule of the activities. Next is show the corporate video then invited director, campus manager and discipline master to give a speech, total time is 1 hour and ended at 1030am . The timing control was fantastic, all on time. and allow next group of students to come in at 1045am. Quite proud of my coordination. But it is really very tire.

Chairman Duties
Yesterday i went back to work to check on the delegated duties and found that all are not doing the job well. Firstly is the AVA, have arranged the servicemen to get 3 microphones but in the end that guys did not appear. Secondly, need to loan out the PC for the speakers to present and is not ready. In the end i myself and one helpers do all the setup and checking of the AVA facilities in the auditorium.
Today go back to workplace again to call and remind all the peer motivators to report at 830am. Have called 3 classes so far they know their duties. When called the forth class, the students reply they dont know and they did not volunteer themselves for the activities. In the end, i have to use the strong word "nominated" to ask them to report at 830am. After that i double check on the setup of extra chairs in the auditorium. To my surprise, the technician told me they will setup on Monday morning. But on Monday morning all the newbies will be enetered the auditorium. They will not have time or space to do the chair arrangement. I explained to them politely and told them that all the management teams will need to be seated at 9am and it will reflect badly on their services. Luckily they listen to my explaination and complete the job by 4pm.
Lesson learnt, as a leader do not assume that all the tasks are carried out correctly. You need to constantly monitor and check on the delegated job.
Observation on why jobs are not carried out properly ? These 2 staffs that did not do the job well have a common sympton -> they both tender resignation. It reflect quite badly on their working attitude or ORD mood or simply Bochap.

New Year Resolutions
This year i have not set my new year resolutions. Last year what have i achieve ?
1. Got my Master Degree Certificate but i passed the course on Dec2005..
2. Got promoted to next grade but due to promotion overdue.
That's all nothing much to mentions.
So this year what will happen ?
1. Will receive HDB letter to choose my flat due to my stay in HDB en-bloc.
2. Will move to new house. Change from 3 rooms to 4 rooms flat. Not greedy to get 5 rooms partially not enough money and secondly not much family members staying.
3. Youngest brother back from USA so that accomplish my guarantor duty.
If there is a god given me 3 wishes. I will wish
1. To be young and healthy forever.
2. To win in every match/bet.
3. The third wishes will be reserved for emergency use.

Rainbow in New Year
New Year afternoon there was a small rain pour. At 630pm, when i look at outside of the kitchen window, i saw rainbow. It had been years that i have not seem the rainbow. The rainbow was beautiful and it was also very long. Hopefully seeing the rainbow will bring me good luck for the whole year.

Watched Borat Movie
This afternoon have watched the Borat Movie at Cathay with my friend. This movie was recommended by newspaper, zaobao, that will make people laugh till stomach cramp. The movie is about Borat, the Kazakstani reporter, travels from his primitive home in Kazakhstan to the U.S. to make a documentary. On his cross-country road-trip, Borat meets real people in real situations. After watching the movie, it was quite a disappointed. It did not make me laugh much and the movie is not that great. The only lucky thing is instead of spend $9 on the ticket, i used my UOB credit card and get 12% discount.

Ah Long Interest Rate Calculation - Correct version
The previous post on Ah Long (Loan Shark) interest rate Calculation is wrong. It is because the Ah Long will not every month take out fresh cash out. They are using the existing amount of money to loan out. The Ah Long claim that they charge a 20% interest rate per borrow i.e Borrow $1000, they charge 20% and only give you $800. In actual case it should be 25% interest rate per borrow. You borrow $800 but need to pay back $1000. Then if this Ah Long has a cash capital of $800 and he loan out every month. How much will he earn ? Let do a simple calculation. A person "A" every month on 1st day borrow $800 and by instalment 5 times in every 6 days pay $200 back. Ah Long will have earned $200 per month.
So cash capital in Jan = $800.
Every month earned = $200
One year earn = 12 x $200 = $2400.
Interest Rate per year = $2400 / $800 = 300%
It is a very huge return as compare to my previous assumption.

Loan Shark - Ah Long Interest Calculation
Just watch the crime watch show on the TV and know that how the Loan Shark do the interest calculation. Take one example, a person loan $1000 from the Loan Shark, they will first charge 20% interest. They will take away $200 and only give the borrower $800. The borrower need to pay instalment of $200 in every 5 days or a week. This instalment will last for 5 rounds.
Let's do a very basic simple interest calculation. If a person every month borrow $800 and pay back $1000 per month and last for a year.
Then total borrowing per year will be $800 x 12 = $9600.
Total Return per year = $1000 x 12 = $12000.
Interest charge is $12000 - $9600 = $2400.
Interest rate per annual = 2400 / 9600 = 25%
It is a really very high profit return and the actual interest rate is confirmed more than 25% per annual as the borrower need to pay back the instalment in every 5 days. No wonder there still have people doing illegal money lending despite the police take alot of action against it.

My First Christmas Gift
You know what is my first christmas gift ? It is a Toshiba Iron. Recently my home iron spoilt and at the same time the citibank christmas promotion, credit card on line application is giving away free gift. Can pick from a range of Toshiba product ranging from a radio, hair dryer or iron. So i apply the SMRT credit card on Wednesday midnight Thursday they called and verify my data. Friday afternoon, they confirmed the card is ready and i need to collect it by Sunday if not the card will be cancelled. So today i collected it and this will be my first christmas gift.
Friday Dinner at Robertson Quay
Met my friends, Steven and Wee Beng at Clarke Quay in the evening 6pm. Steven suggest to eat the best ramen at Robertson Quay which he has read in forum. So we walk quite far from Clarke Quay to Robertson Quay to look for the restaurant. It is at 60 Robertson Quay, #01-13 and the restaurant name is Netsuretsu Ichiban-Tei. It's a relatively authentic low-cost (relative to Japanese food) Japanese family restaurant, with ramen obviously being a key fixture as a result. In fact, their logo seems to suggest that they specialize in tan tan ramen, which I didn't try this time. Three of us order the tonkotsu ramen, it was relatively creamy and rich, with ingredients done just right, like the egg, noodles and the chasiu.
After the dinner we went to Liang Court, Meidi-ya Supermarket. I cannot believe that the apple is sell at a price of $18++.,just because it stated there from Japan. In that case with my salary earn in Singapore, I am not able to survive in Japan. My friend told me that he saw one honey dew sold $100 in the supermarket. Later we discover that there are package of sushi sold only $7.80 reduced from $9.80. Maybe it is 8pm and they discount and sold it. So Steven bought one and 3 of us found a place to enjoy the sushi. It was one of the best sushi that I ever eat. Maybe is the raw are all original from Japan, the chef will use all these raw to cook to sushi. I will strongly recommend all sushi lover to buy it from this supermarket.

On 22 to 24 and 29 to 31 Dec, they even provide free transport to send people from Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, Zouk, Orchard Emarald to City Hall MRT from 9pm to 1am. At 1am to 4am free transport will send to various MRT station, to me means get home free with the transport.

Today afternoon went back to school to prepare my orientation things. As an orientation committee chairman, I need to prepare the necessary folder for all the staffs as well as all the documents and forms for the students. In the staff room, it was very quiet as it is the school holiday and today is holiday eve. Most of the staffs are in holiday and section heads take leave. I suppose to prepare 40 folders but after completed 10 folders is already 440pm. I decided to stop and come back another day to do it as today I am having dinner with my friends at Clarke Quay. Really hope that someone can volunteer to help me to do all these things. One of the clerks asks me why i don’t ask my committee members back to help. My answer was one people suffer is better than 2 persons suffer.

- Free Insurance coverage when buy air ticket using credit card.
Evil :
- Promotion always have the "term and condition".
- Merchants levy administrative charge when using credit card which usually happen in booking of tour package.
- Payment of annual subscription fee.
- Interest rate up to 24% per annual if the purchase amount is not pay fully.
- Easily tempted to over spend.
It is important to ask yourself a few questions before owning credit card
- Should i need a credit card ?
- Will i easily tempted to spend beyond my mean?
- Am i able to fully pay the purchase every month ?
- How many credit card do i need ?
- Am i able to use each card sufficiently to waive the subscription fee?

Stories that i wanted to tell the boss III
In my previous company there was a Executive Vice President who was very energetic, idealistic and alot of passion in doing the jobs. Whenever there are new projects or initiatives, he will always get hold of it and throw all these projects back to his sub-ordinates to do it. Initially he will always look back and make sure that his men were able to follow his footsteps. After sometimes he took things for granted and never look back. He continiues make new initiatives, continues get hold of big project and throw all the project to his men. At the end of the year, when he look back, he discovered that there were no one follow him, all the projects are laying down on the floor.
The moral of this story is do not take things for granted. Employees are human not machines. They have their limtitation, they cannot work for 24 hours non-stop. Always look back and get feedback from them. Ensure that they are able to follow the pace of the progression.

Do Management know their Staff?
On walking into the factory, the MD noticed a young guy leaning against the wall, doing nothing. He approached the young man and calmly said to him, How much do you earn?" The young man was quite amazed that he was asked such a personal question, he replied, none the less, "I earn $ 2 000.00 a month, Sir. Why?"
Without answering, the MD took out his wallet and removed $ 6000.00 cash And gave it to the young man and said, "Around here I pay people for working, not for standing around looking pretty! Here is 3 months' salary, now GET OUT and don't come back".
The young man turned around and was quickly out of sight. Noticing a Few onlookers, the MD said in a very upset manner, "And that applies for everybody in this company". He approached one of the onlookers and asked him, "Who 's the young man that I just fired ?" To which an amazing reply came of, "He was the pizza delivery man, Sir...!

Stories that i wanted to tell the boss
There are alot of little story that i have read during i am a little boy which are related to the management skills. First story is long long ago, there was a very kind hearted man name Dong Guo. One day, when he walked into the forest, he saw a wolf running for his life. Very shortly this wolf appear infront of him and begged Dong Guo : "Can you save me ? A hunter was after my life. Please help me?" Mr Dong Guo was very kind and offered his help. He open his huge bag and let the wolf hide inside. After a while the hunter run pass Dong Guo and ask him whether he saw the wolf. Mr Dong Guo pointed at a direction and the hunter left. After the hunter left far, Mr Dong Guo open his bag and the wolf jump out. The wolf look at the man. Instead of thank Mr Dong Guo, he say to him:"Can you help me one more time, I am hungry now, can i eat you." The moral of the story, you must know who you are helping. Do not anyhow help others which are bad in their nature. Hello my boss, you are very kind in helping others but do you know that in the end we the employee are the one who suffer. Others are taking advantage on your kindness.

Telemarketing
What is telemarketing ? It is selling or promoting goods and services by telephone. Within this year, i have been received quite a number of telemarketing from banks till i know how to handle them. Yesterday morning again i receive a phone call from telemarketer. Below is our conversation.
Telemarketer : Good Morning. Can i speak to KC ?
KC : Yes speaking. (Wonder who is that lady ?)
Telemarketer : I am Jasmine calling from vwxy bank. Currently our bank has a promotion on credit financial plan that charge a lower interest rate in loan as compare to other bank. Are you interested ?
KC : No. I do not need any loan. (Start to wonder how the bank know me as i have no account or any contact with this bank.)
Telemarketer : How's about our credit card that come with 1 year free subscription ?
KC : ( I am start to angry as my handphone is not incoming call free) No, i dont need as i have alot of credit cards. Your bank offer is not attractive as compare to other bank that offer me life time membership free.
Telemarketer : OK. Thank you for your time. Bye.
I am really hate all these telemarketer in wasting my time and money (my handphone bill). Free Creative Web Cam
Today i go to Plaza Singapura to collect the free creative webcam that offered by qmax in Sitex where i signed for the free wireless access. Please see the picture on the right that taken by my sony ericsson handphone. I wonder how is this possible ? Give free wireless access and free webcam ? Will the IDA provide fund(Wireless@SG scheme) to the wireless service provider base on number of subscriber ? How much will the service provider get per month for one wireless subscriber ? I always believe that that is no free lunch in this world.

And then I wait for plug-ins so I can see your logo spin.

Entrepreneur, Technopreneur, Cyberpreneur
A lot of new terms come out in this new age. So what's the differences ?
Entrepreneur is risk-taking businessperson: somebody who initiates or finances new commercial enterprises
Technopreneur having an advantage on the mastery of the technology element besides possessing good business acumen.
A cyberpreneur is defined as “an entrepreneur with the skills and mindset to deal with the knowledge economy”.
Why need to encourage all these Entrepreneur, Technopreneur and Cyberpreneur? In my opinion, one possible reasons as follow :
1. Cutdown jobless rate. As more and more manufacturer company shift their base to China, there will be more and more people jobless. It may become a potential social problem to a country. Hence by encouraging the Entrepreneur, Technopreneur and Cyberpreneur, it will cut down the jobless rate.
How to encourage Entrepreneur, Technopreneur and Cyberpreneur?
The best way is in the education system. Current education system do not teach their students on how to setup a business. It will be a high learning curve or deter for those students that wanted to setup business. Hence in my opinion, the tertiary education systems should include the following modules in their programme :
1. How to register a company ? Differences between partner, private limited, or limited.
2. How to write a business plan ?
3. How to get financial help from various organisation ?
4. How to do marketing for the products or services ?
5. How to do import and export business ?
6. How to manage the account eg the balance sheet, GST rebate etc ?
7. What are the business law needed to follow ?
I believed that all the above topics are essential knowledge for a person to setup a business. Without knowing all those things, they may need to take more times to get to know the "how to" and hence may deter the momentum of doing the business.

Expo - Sitex and Warehouse Sales
This afternoon went to EXPO with Steven. Expo now is having two events, John Little warehouse Sales and Sitex. Steven wanted to buy some clothing in the warehouse Sales. He chooses a number of clothings while i looking at the pants. The "Valentino" pants looking nice and cheap. I chooses a few but too bad there is no changing room for me to try and the queue to the cashier is very long. I estimate each row will have 40 to 50 people waiting to pay money (pay $$ still need to queue and wait for hours, what the ....). So i give up the ideas of buying the items. Luckily Steven found his friend there that waiting for his wife in shopping, he willing to give steven a favour by helping him queue and pay for the items . He will then send the clothing to Steven home.
Later Steven and I went to Sitex. It was also very crowded. We only aim for register the free wireless access which also giving out free gift, webcam and a few other freebies. Steven left at 515pm while i still in the queue. After i registered, i walk around to see see look look but too crowded till i give up after 10 mins loitering in there.
I left at 615pm and arrive at Akira warehouse Sales at 715pm. There also alot of people. I quickly go to look for the electric iron, cost only $8.90, pay cash and out to go home. I really hate to be squeezed in the crowd if not for saving $$, i will try to avoid all these crowded place.

Year end = Spend $$ time
Every year come to year end always need to spend extra money. Why ? I find it very strange, whenever come to end of the year, some of my home appliances would spoilt. Last year is the electric cooker, fan , hall light. This year in November is the gas stove, last week the electric kettle and today the electric iron. Hopefully the TV set can wait till the new house come then spoilt.
