Online Learning - Daily Quiz

Recently i have participated in the cisco netwoking academy "netspace challenge" http://www.academynetspace.com. The online challenge has a daily QUIZ " Question of the day" which is one day one question and questions on demand which is 100 questions per day ranging from CCNA to CCNP level. Each correct answer will awaed certian points. Till now i have awarded 43000 points but compared with the top 475000 points, i still need to work a bit harder.

UNSW Asia (in Singapore) is closing down!

University of New South Wales just started its Singapore Campus this year.

The reason given is that enrollment is too little. So what is the current enrolment figure in Singapore UNSW ? It is truth enough if there is no student then there will be no school. Currently Singapore already have 4 University, NUS,NTU,SMU and SIM. Each of the university is try all their means to get enough students (including overseas students) to study in their University.

Escape Responsibility

A staff was nominated to perform a task but he try to avoid it by finding excuses of busy in doing other things. He hope that by delaying it and when the due date near, he may not be the one to do it. This is no use as his name was officially nominated by his superior and in the end he still need to do it. So why need to escape and avoid the duty ? If being nominated then just do it. Any unhappiness or remark can be made to the superior after completing the task.

How to Recruit The Right Person for The Job?

Put about 100 bricks in no particular order in a closed room with an open window.
Then send 2 or 3 candidates in the room and close the door.
Leave them alone and come back after 6 hours and then analyze the situation

If they are counting the bricks. Put them in the Accounts Department.
If they are recounting them.. Put them in Auditing.
If they have messed up the whole place with the bricks. Put them in Engineering.
If they are arranging the bricks in some strange order. Put them in Planning.
If they are throwing the bricks at each other. Put them in Operations.
If they are sleeping. Put them in Security.
If they have broken the bricks into pieces. Put them in Information Technology.
If they are sitting idle. Put them in Human Resources.
If they say they have tried different combinations, yet not a brick has been moved. Put them in Sales.
If they have already left for the day. Put them in Marketing.
If they are staring out of the window. Put them on Strategic Planning.

And then last but not least.
If they are standing around talking to each other and not a single brick has been moved..... Congratulate them and put them in Top Management!

Pay Tax

Today receive letter from Inland Revenue. It is paying Income Tax again. This month need to spend less for the tax payment.

Handphone

Oh no.... i have left my handphone on my office table. This is the second time i forgot to bring the handphone back.

Have seem a shopping mart selling Japan Water Melon. Guess what is the price ? It costs $75 Singapore Dollar.

Computer cannot display blogger web properly

Dont know what happen ??? My computer cannot display the icon in the blogger properly and hence i cannot blog.

Hp charger faulty

My hp battery power only left 10% strength. So i decided to charge it but there is no indication in the hp it is being charged. Initially i though is the power failure so i go to another powerpoint to plug in the charger, the result is the same, no indication it is charge. I started to panic and ask around my colleague anyone of them having the same charger for me to confirm whether the charger faulty or the hp faulty. Luckily one colleague has the same charger and confirm that is the chager faulty. Another lucky thing is it is still under warranty and i am able to send it for warranty claim.

Hair important

Nowsaday see alot of teenage male students are having long hair. Is hair really important to them that they can go against the school rules? I wonder in future when they go NS can they bear to have their hair cut ???

Birthday Cake

On 2/5/07 our section head, Mr Seah had bought a birthday cake to celebrate his staff that birthday fall on Apr/May. So there are 4 staffs birthday in Apr/May. They are Mr Kwok, Ms Charmaine, Mr Seah and me... hahaha. It seem has become a custom that Mr Seah he himself will buy the cake every month to celebrate for his staffs.

Date Confusion

Youngest brother will be back from USA. There is some confusion on the date that he will fly back. Father heard the date is 1 May 1am. Brother in law wanted to fetch my youngest brother back and went to the airport at 12am. Both of them dont know which airline he is taking so i went to internet and search.
From the USA, Michigan State there is no direct flight to Singapore instead it need to stop at 2 transit point, 1 in Chicago another in Japan before reaching Singapore. The total flight take about 18 hours and when it cross the line it lost 1 day. So because of these confusion, the date was wrong. My brother will only arrive in Singapore at 2 May between 12 to 1am.
